We will retire the jersey of István Gulyás and György Zsigmond

 

According to the decision of the board of Veszprém Handball Team Co. Ltd. and the Veszprémi Építők Sport Egyesület, Dr. Zoltán Csík managing director of Veszprém Handball Team Co. Ltd. and Nikola Eklemovic sports director informed István Gulyás and György Zsigmond, two former members of Veszprém handball team, now working in the youth system, that the Club will retire their jerseys. This means that nobody will ever wear the numbers 7 and 14 in Veszprém again.

 

 

The jersey retirement ceremony of György Zsigmond will be held this Saturday (15 September) before our Champions League game against PGE Vive Kielce, while the retirement ceremony of István Gulyás will be held on 21 October, before the derby against MOL-Pick Szeged.

 

 

István Gulyás played in Veszprém between 1985 and 1999, and scored 767 goals in 433 games. The world-class playmaker is a 9 times Hungarian champion, 9 times Hungarian Cup winner and Cup Winners Cup winner with “Építők”. Besides this, he was the Best Male Handball Player of Hungary in 1995.

 

György Zsigmond was the player of Veszprém from 1989 until 1999, then again from 2001 until 2004. He played 485 games for the Club and scored 1191 goals. The great line player is an 11 times Hungarian champion, 12 times Hungarian Cup winner, he played in a Champions League final, and he was also awarded as Best Male Player of Hungary in 1994.
