We can beat our all-time result against PPD Zagreb

There was a time when the players of Zagreb was put into one group with Veszprém and still had a smile on their face. It was not a scornful reaction. It was rather a kind of relief since they were aware of the fact that they were much stronger than their Hungarian rivals. They proved to be true by having great achievements in the group round and the knockout round.

 

Recently we haven’t really had much information about how the Croatian team reacts when they have to play against Veszprém. The truth is that we seemed to be more successful in the past couple of years. No matter we take SEHA League or Champions League into account.

 

This time the two big rivals are going to clash in the most prestigious international tournament. Especially with our sad memory about the dramatic game in autumn when Veszprém gained victory only thanks to the last goal scored by Gasper Marguc in the last minute. Moreover, that game was held at a troubled time with the burden of many injured players and the suspension of Momir Ilic.

 

The number of group games is decreasing. Therefore, MVM Veszprém can get into the best 8 teams without having to play a match only by the big rivals’ unexpected mistakes. The second place is only in the hand of the TEAM. So we cannot lose points from now on.

 

We have to win three times! This time we are playing against Zagreb, then Flensburg and finally we have to take revenge against Plock. Unfortunately, we lost a point in Poland in the first round and that point is needed in the end.

 

Zagreb is full of very talented and young players. In Champions League, however, they could not reach great achievements. Defeating them is a must but we all know that this won’t be an easy task.
