It was the very first derby between the two Veszprém in the Hungarian first league, Telekom Veszprém was the guest team in the Veszprém Aréna. The „small” Veszprém started the game, but after a mistake Yahia also missed a shot, then Manaskov scored the first goal. Cupara showed some big saves, in the 8. minute the standing was 3-5 with Yahia’s goal. Both team played in high tempo, so the spectators could see a lot of goals (15. min 8-10). Moraes missed many shots in clear chances, while the youngsters were coming closer to Telekom Veszprém (23. min 10-12). On the right wing Marguc played very efficiently. For the break the more experienced Veszprém led by 5 goals.
 
The second half started with Manaskov’s goal, too. Telekom still missed a lot in clear chances. The defence, with Blagotinsek became harder, so the little Veszprém could not find the way to the net. In attack, the Slovenian players, especially Blagotinsek and Marguc, scored a lot of goals (39. min 13-21). Bodor came to the court and got a 2 minutes suspension right away. In the 42. minute the difference was 10 goals for the first time (15-25). Cupara saved a penalty and home trainer Tombor called a timeout. At the middle of the second half Marguc already scored 8 goals. Székely came to the goal and showed some extraordinary save. The youngsters were getting tired at the end, so the big Veszprém could increase their lead easily. At the end the crowd could see an exciting game with a Telekom Veszprém victory.
 

 

David Davis: The first period was not so good, but I liked what I saw in the second. From now on, we concentrate on Sunday’s championship game. I am happy for the return of Mahé and Tonnesen. We are on the right way, and everybody wants to prove.
 
Dejan Manaskov: For us, victory was the most important, but we only played well in the last 20 minutes, and that was when we performed well. Our opponent is really young, but I think they deserve to be in the first division. I wish them good luck for the rest of the season.
 
Csaba Tombor: We did what we could for 35-40 minutes. We put our heart and soul on the court, but that is all we could do. The boys got really tired. This is not our level yet.
 
Bence Bartha: Thanks to Telekom Veszprém for taking this game seriously and facing us with full roster. This motivated us even more, we gave our all. We played well in the beginning of the game. After the break, we got tired, we could not keep the tempo, and the difference came out between the teams.
