MVM Veszprém – Motor Zaporozhye Champions League 1/8 final rematch is going to be on Saturday at 5 pm. The game is going to be broadcasted by Sport1 channel. Before the game head coach Xavi Sabaté, Gergő Iváncsik, Roland Mikler and Gasper Marguc shared their thoughts.
Xavi Sabaté: In the first match we gave a great performance in defense but we made a lot of mistakes in our offensive methods during the whole game. We are satisfied with the achievement against the Ukrainian team even if we could have increased the gap with a more precise execution. This week we have been working hard to improve our strategies and to perform even better than in the first match. Even if we were able to gain a 5-goal victory last time, in CL every match is risky. So there is no time for resting, we analyse videos, train and prepare for the rematch. As usual, we give the maximum respect to our opponent team.

Gergő Iváncsik: In the first game we made some mistakes and didn’t make many shooting position effective but in the second half we were able to take the lead and we didn’t let victory slip away. Regardless of this, we need to perform better this time. The shots we missed last time have to be scored now. Their wings have a relatively high score rate but we usually succeed in ‘inactivating’ the playmakers. Compared to the first game, we need to perform better because they might have improved a lot since then.
Roland Mikler: It was a difficult start in the game against the Ukrainian team and we let Zaporozhye reduce the gap. But in the second half we could play according to our abilities. The rematch is expected to be quite hard so we need 100% concentration and a more precise game for the victory on home court. So much so that they will fight hard and I’m sure they won’t let us win easily in Veszprém.
Gasper Marguc: We are happy about the 5-goal victory in Ukraine and we can say we gave a good performance. But we made mistakes and we could have scored more goals. I think there is a much bigger gap between the two teams but we failed to prove it. Of course, in the rematch the aim is to reinforce our achievement of the first match and we definitely want to play better this time in order to start Final Four more confidently. In addition to these, we want a great match that our fans can enjoy.
