In the Champions League the MKB-MVM Veszprém will play against Vardar Skopje again on Saturday 4:30 pm. The mtach will be broadcasted live on Digi Sport1.
Our head coach and three players shared with us their experiences and opinios about the last and next game.
Carlos Ortega, coach:
Of course it occurred to me that we could lose the match as the Vardar had one goal lead before our 7-Meter throw. But the brilliantly executed save of Roland Mikler gave us the hope back. This match also verified that we have a morally strong team, since we could turn the match over and win in the last second also without László Nagy, against one of our greatest rival. The rematch won't be easier either. It is much more difficult to play if the two matches are that close to each other in time. The experiences are vivid in the mind of the rival.
Roland Mikler, goalkeeper:
It can also mean an advantage that the matches are that close to each other in time. Since the memories of losing the match in the last second are still lively in the mind of the Vardar. This leaves deep marks in the players mind. But we were on the opposite side, which means huge mental power for us. Moreover now we will play at home in front of the best fan club of Europe. It is impossible that we will not win. But it is sure that the Vardar will do everything to make it difficult for us.
Christian Ugalde, left wing:
It is clear that the Vardar will do everything to win the return match. If they will lose, they can surely not get the first place. I am sure that this match will be as difficult as it was in Skopje. But with our success we can shake off one of our rivals. Of course as always we just think about the victory. After this again on home ground we will receive the Russian Medvedi.
Andreas Nilsson, pivot:
Of course it occurred to me that we can lose before the penalty throw of the Vardar. But Roland has turned the end game in another direction. The return match will be as difficult, hard and exciting as it was in Skopje. The efficiency of the defense will decide over the two points again. We were good in that in Skopje. And it also will be the same this time.
