Veszprém – Szeged pregame statements

 

Our players and headcoach told us their expectations before the second game of the championship final.

 

Ljubomir Vranjes: I think we can play much better than we did in Szeged. We watched the game and analyzed it, so we are preparing for a new game. We are four goals down in half time, and we need to come back at home. Home is the key word in this sentence. I would like to see that everybody standing together for the last time this season. We need each other. I would like to see my team being more aggressive with a strong attitude. I would like to see them burn. We have the tactics and have to be able to do it in the field. They cannot do much new, and we cannot do much new. We know each other very good. We will go for 100% with attitude and heart in this game.

 

 

László Nagy: I was disappointed after the final whistle in Szeged. I expected a closer game, not necessarily victory, but we tried to achieve that. We were close until the 50th minute, which would have been good result. We have a huge task in front of us in the second-leg. We started the Monday with video for correcting our mistakes. We made so many technical errors in the first 10 minutes that we usually make in a whole game. It should be a warning sign for us, going in the second game. Szeged used our mistakes not only in the first 10 minutes, but also during the whole match. If we can get this thing straight, and our defense will be more effective with a good goalkeeper performance, than I think this four goals deficit, which may sound big, can be climbed. I, personally, can help the team with a good performance, but not only me, but the whole team will try to do their best. We will need an outstanding performance from everyone.

 

 

Cristian Ugalde: This is the big final, of course, they lead by 4 goals, but we could win here every year. This is the last game of the season, and without the Champions League we can only focus on this match. The Fans are always important for us, because they are always helping us. Together we can do it. We know that it is difficult, because of the last result, but as I have said, this is the last game. If we watch the video and see what to correct, I am sure we can do it. We must start stronger, in defense especially. If they can play without any contact, we will only help them. We have to run with our fast wingers and pivots. If our defense will be tough, it will be easier for our goalkeepers as well.

 

 

Kent Robin Tonnesen: I was not surprised by the performance of Szeged. We knew that they are a good team, and what they are capable of. We will have to give a much better performance if we would like to beat Szeged. We have already started to prepare for the weekend, because it is possible to climb that four-goal lead that our opponent has. We have to work hard and show a better performance on Sunday. We will do everything to win, that is the only thing we care about. I think we have to take away the easy mistakes and of course to have a better defense and more concentration in attack. We have to work as a team. I believe that we can turn this game around because we have a very good team. If we give our best performance and play on the highest possible level, we know that everything is possible. We can play better handball, and we would like to show it on Sunday.
