Veszprém - Szeged pregame statements

The MKB-MVM Veszprém could get the home court advantage and will play against MOL-Pick Szeged the Hungarian Chmapionship Finals first game at home at 6 pm this Saturday. Before the clash our head coach and three players shared their thoughts.

 

 

Antonio Carlos Ortega: We are facing a very difficult game. There is a special atmosphere in a final match because each team works really hard the whole year to gain the gold medal of the championship. It’s a special situation since everyone expects us to win. However, I’m sure that Szeged is preparing for something unexpected. We are going to play at home; we can get better odds which can improve our chances at the end. Of course we aim at defending our title.

 

 

Andreas Nilsson: The fourth clash against them is coming soon. It’s not easy for any of the teams because everyone knows the others’ thoughts already. It will make the first Championship final game even harder. We did a lot in order to start the final in Veszprém Arena. We have to convert our chances into victory. And I definitely want to gain the third trophy after our SEHA League and Hungarian Cup success.

 

 

Christian Zeitz: We’ve had so many great experiences so far. Sport taught us to be cautious. In a championship final, there’s no easy opponent. The team of Szeged is constantly improving. In the last game they proved that they are able to close up when they seem to lose. I’m sure that they will do everything to defeat our team. The teams know each other too well and this makes even harder to play against them. But we must to win!

 

 

Gergő Iváncsik: We are about to end a hard and burdensome season. We definitely need to perform our best. We want to have another champion title. We cannot get enough of these victories and experiences. We are ready to defeat our title. The first step is to win in the upcoming game. It is basically enough to win with 1-goal difference, but we obviously want to achieve more. We play at home first which is a great opportunity for us. We have to do our best so that we can go to the rematch confidently.
