Telekom Veszprém will host Sporting CP in the second leg of the VELUX EHF Champions League eight-final on Saturday at 5:30 p.m. in the Veszprém Arena. The first leg was won by Veszprém 30:28. We asked our head coach and players about the second game of the clash.
David Davis: The home game is going to be difficult as well, because they played at home with a lot of motivation, and here, they will be able to play without pressure. They are dangerous because of that. Of course, they would like to qualify for the Final4, just like every other team that is still alive in the competition. We will put all the steel in the fire, and give everything on home court. We are going to fight, like everyone. We will play at home in front of our Supporters. We will prepare better for this game and we would like to win. That is all we are thinking about.
László Nagy: I would not think that our performance was weak last week. Maybe we had some difficulties in defense and our opponent found their chances. I expect a victory from the home game, which will be tough because Sporting will come here without any pressure. The expectation on home court is obviously a victory. If we do that, then the eight-finals are marked done.
Blaz Blagotinsek: It was a very tough game in Lisbon. They play really smart, and their goalkeeper is really high level. I expect a hard game on Saturday. We have to prepare more for the connections between their line player and center back. We have to play better because we did not play so well there. Especially in defense, we had too much goals against. I think that if we do everything all right we will advance to the quarterfinals.
Petar Nenadic: We are the favorites in our own hall and in front of our spectators. We expect that we will win the game but it will not be easy because every team who qualified for the best 16 are deserved to be here. We have some time to prepare for the next game and make everything better for the second one. We know our goals and we know that we can do it here in our own hall. We also know that we are the favorites and may have a two-goal advantage from Lisbon but we do not think about that. It is 0:0 and we do not want to make easy mistakes once again.
