Veszprém – Skjern pregame statements

 

We asked our headcoach and 3 players about the upcoming second leg of the Champions League eights-final.

 

Ljubomir Vranjes: I do not feel well at all, that we performed in such a low level. They are good, we knew it before. They did not lose at home, but we are Veszprém. I think that we did not show that we are Veszprém, and that hurts. It is how it is. There are two ways now. We can cry about it or we can step up and try to change what happened. Seven goals is a lot but I do not think any player or a coach or anybody wanted this. The only way we can manage it is to stay together and try to win on Saturday in front of our Fans. That is the only way. I can understand that a lot of people are mad or sad. We all are. Blaming others, or any players is no way. I take the responsibility of course. We are a team and a team is together. Everyone achieves more, that is what a team stands for. That is what I want to see on Saturday, that is what we are going to do.

 

 

Renato Sulic: I do not know what to say really. It is a very bad feeling to lose by 7 goals in the eights-final of the Champions League against a team like Skjern. Veszprém cannot lose to anyone by 7 goals. We played a bad game, but now we have the opportunity to correct what we did, here in Veszprém, in our own Arena and in front of our own Supporters. I am sure that we can do this. We have to give 120% and we have to kill their offense. By scoring fastbreak goals, we might have a chance, but we have to play the best game of the season in this weekend.

 

 

Roland Mikler: I expect an extremely good game from us because we made our situation very difficult to qualify to the next round. We have to make a 180 degrees rotation and have an almost perfect game. We will not have any other chance to recover our deficit only if we will have 3-4 but rather 5 extra performances in our team. Without this it will not work. I am sure that everybody knows how important this match will be and that we have to show our real face. Our qualification to the next round is on the edge. We are grateful for everybody who supported us in Denmark and travelled so much for us. I can promise to those people who will come to the Arena on Saturday and still support us that we will not show the face that we had in the first game. This is one million percent. I feel we can do this together.

 

 

Gasper Marguc: It is tough to say anything after a game like we did in Denmark. We performed really under our level and it is a bad result for the second game. I just know that we can play better. We have to fight much harder and want to win much more than we did in Skjern. We have to play like a team for ourselves, for the club and for the fans to prove that what happened in Denmark was just a bad day, a one-time occasion that I hope never will happen again. We will do everything to recover this deficit with seven goals and try to go to the next round and also repair our image how we represent ourselves. I really believe we can do it but we have to stick together the whole week, play like a team and then we will see what will happen on Saturday.
