On Saturday, at 3 PM MVM Veszprém is hosting the Champions League group leader PSG Handball in the Arena. Live broadcast on Sport1.
We asked Coach Javier Sabaté, Captain László Nagy, Gergő Iváncsik and Renato Sulic about the important upcoming match.
Javier Sabaté: Each game is important just like this one on Saturday when we are playing against the top team Paris. They have a great team full of excellent players. But we’re playing on home court, our injured players have recovered, and we are working hard to gain victory. It will be hard to defeat them so we need our fans’ support more than ever. PSG is really fast, that’s why we have to perform great in each element of the game: defense, offense, fast breaks. The main aim is to stop their fast breaks and concentrate on our offense system.
László Nagy: We want to gain those two points in this special game at home. We all know that Paris is in great form so victory is inevitable for group winning. We rely on our fans’ support as usual and this time we need them even more. PSG has 16 excellent players, they have no weak points but we have to make use of what we observed while we were analyzing their methods.
Gergő Iváncsik: As we observed the last 2-3 games of Paris, we realized that they perform great and they seem to be even more unified so it won’t be easy defeating them this weekend but we will do everything possible to win against them. We shouldn’t let ourselves make mistakes and we have to stop their fast breaks. After goal or steals, they arrive quickly at the other end of the court; we have to stop that. We shouldn’t let them score easy goals.
Renato Sulic: This will be the most important game for us, and for them as well. If they can win in Veszprém, it would be 100% certain that they are group winners. We are facing a very hard match because they are getting better and have an excellent team. Just like us. I think we also have a great team. We are going to play much better than last Saturday since we know that the group leader is coming and if we want to take their position away, we have to win this Saturday.
