Veszprém – Flensburg pregame statements

 

The second of the VELUX EHF Champions League quarterfinal will be held in Veszprém Arena on Saturday at 5:30 p.m. between Telekom Veszprém and SG Flensburg-Handewitt. Veszprém is heading into the clash with a six-goals advantage against the German champions. We asked our head coach and players about this very important, Final4 participation decider game.

 

David Davis: We did an excellent game and result in Flensburg. We made a big step there, but we need to close the quarterfinals of course, on home court. We are going to play in our own hall, and we can show in front of our own supporters how strong we really are. We are only thinking about the win, because of the result from last week. It is clear that if you sleep for even a second, done, you are knocked out. I think we did a big step by winning in away and we do not expect anything else at home. We are going to prepare accordingly to the weekend.

 

 

László Nagy: I think that if we head to the direction we have been heading lately, to close the home games with a victory, then we can achieve the qualification to the Final4. We have to achieve a victory against Flensburg on home court. The away game seen some good defense and great goalkeeper performance and we could collect the rebounds well also. Every victory is based on solid defense. It is also necessary to be good at running back into defensive formation. These are the two most important things: defense and running back.

 

 

Mirsad Terzic: I expect a hard game because we know what kind of team Flensburg is and we go into the game with the proper respect towards them. We won the first game; it was a nice victory and a nice day in Germany. We are not going to relax in the second game neither. In front of our Supporters we must be even stronger and harder with Flensburg because if they feel comfortable, it is not so good for us. We have full focus for the game and we are only thinking about winning in our Arena.

 

 

Kent Robin Tonnesen: I expect a tough game of course but we will play in front of our own Fans. We really want to win the second game as well and we will do everything to do so. In Flensburg we played really good and of course we want to play on that level again to show our Supporters that we can play really good handball. We will do just that on Saturday.
