Meshkov Brest will pay a visit to Veszprém Arena this Sunday to play against Telekom Veszprém in the VELUX EHF Champions League’s last but one group round. We asked coach David Davis and our players about this important clash.
David Davis: It is going to be hard, because everything is starting to be clear, in which position the teams are going to be. Also, teams that are fighting to remain in the Champions League have all the chances to go to the next round. Now starts the „Now or never” phase. Meshkov won last week against Rhein-Neckar Löwen in an excellent game so it is going to be complicated. They come here with full confidence. Manolo Cadenas is always pushing his players to the limit. This match is very important because if we win and Vardar lose, we can finish in the second place mathematically. This is what we want. We even still have a chance to finish in the first place. This weekend is going to be complicated so we prepare for it very seriously. From now on, we cannot lose concentration until the end of the season.

Roland Mikler: We prepare to this game as we always do. The only change, I think, is that the team found its confidence and shows the face that we wanted to show from the start of the season. We need these two points like a piece of bread. Our goal at home is to win. I think Brest is a great team and we needed a lot of luck in our away game to take the two points. I would not like to play an open game like that one at home. I would be really happy not to have that excitement.
Momir Ilic: I hope that it will be good for us, and we will be able to play a good game. Of course, they have great quality. Their season was like a roller coaster, they were up and down, just like us. We have to be 100% concentrated. That is it.
Borut Mackovsek: I expect a good game. They played really well in the last round against Rhein-Neckar Löwen. Now we have this great winning streak but we cannot take this game like it is going to be easy because it will not. It is very important to win to get the second place that we want.
