Veszprém - Besiktas pregame statements

MVM Veszprém is going to play at home again in the Champion League on Sunday at 3 pm. The opponent team will be Turkish Besiktas. The game will be broadcasted by the Sport1. We asked Coach Xavi Sabaté, Gergő Iváncsik, Cristian Ugaldét and Mirko Alilovicot about the upcoming clash and the last weekend.

 

 

Xavier Sabate: Analysing the game of Besiktas, it is safe to say that they focus on their defence system so our fast wing players should play accordingly. I’d like to highlight their pivot player and their experienced playmaker Pribak with the leadership of whom their offences are very organized. I think it won’t be an easy game at all. Last weekend we gained a glorious triumph. On Saturday we were able to defeat Zagreb against which it is really hard to get scores at home. On Sunday the team succeeded against Nexe as well. We could win against them with 14 goals, which is amazing because they have been defeated by their biggest rival only with a few goals.

 

 

Gergő Iváncsik: The team has benefited from the two away victories. Especially the triumph over Zagreb which brought us even closer. There’s no time to rest, we are facing another challenge. It’s a cliché but still true that there are no easy opponents in the Champions League. They say that the forthcoming game seems to be the hardest. We have to defeat the Turkish team because it would make our scores gained in Plock and Zagreb even more valuable.

 

 

Cristian Ugalde: We are really satisfied with our achievements of last weekend. Winning against Zagreb is always hard, especially in an away game. Moreover, the injuries and the red card did not make our situation easier, either. We faced a big challenge but it made us more motivated and we were fighting hard and finally succeeded. Celebrating with the fans and seeing their happiness made the evening more memorable. The next day we aimed at offering 100% performance and won in the end. We are going to play with similar motivation against Besiktas on Sunday.

 

 

Mirko Alilovic: It was an unbelievable weekend with a difficult game against Zagreb. I think only PSG is capable of winning against Zagreb so we gained two important scores. It was a big step towards the group winning but the end is still far away. We had been facing big challenges but we managed to get through them; we have to have the same attitude in the game against Besiktas. We have to prove that we are better. We have to be cautious with all of the teams in CL. We have some injured players but we need to gain scores on Sunday anyway.
