Veszprém – Barcelona pregame statements

The VELUX EHF Champions League is coming back to Veszprém Arena. On Saturday at 5:30 PM Telekom Veszprém will host FC Barcelona Lassa and play the official match of the week in CL. The game will be broadcasted live by Sport 1. We asked our head coach and three players about this upcoming game.

 

 

Xavi Sabaté: Champions League match at home, the team is ready. We still do not know anything about the injured players’ situation but in Veszprém there are no excuses for anybody. I trust our players 200%, they are working very well. We play against one of the candidates who can win the Final Four but we play at home in front of our supporters. I am sure that they will support the team as always. We need them to beat a team like Barcelona.

 

 

Nagy László: My ankle is getting better and better thank God. I started training with the team this week and I hope that there will be no stepping back, only improvement. I think that I will be match fit on Saturday and I will play against Barcelona. It will not be just one match out of many, it will be a great memory for me even so if we can celebrate victory in Veszprém Arena. Our goal is to get closer to the first teams in the group. Of course, we need to win in order to this fulfill this goal.

 

 

Chema Rodríguez: I think it is difficult to know in this first match after World Championship which team is better now. They had a lot of players in the World Championship. For us it was different because a lot of players were in France and a lot of players were here in Veszprém. We need to mix this width of people in order to get a good result in this match. I think the most important thing for us is Perez De Vargas picking a bad day and not save a lot against us like in the first game. We played good in Barcelona but we missed a lot of easy chances. If we can score on those easy chances this time we will have a chance.

 

 

Gasper Marguc: They are a great team and we lost the game in Barcelona but I feel that we can beat them this time, we play at home. We want to play better in the second part of the season than we did in the first half and I think Barca is a great start to go to the direction we want to. I hope that the fans will help us like always and together with them we can beat Barca.
