Telekom Veszprém visited the pointless Vecsés in Monor in the K&H League today. In the squad of the Hungarian record champion you could fin only one right back, the you Lev Szuharev because of the injury of Tonnesen and resting Nagy. The another youngster in the team was the pivot Bence Szűcs today.

 

The home team started the game well, the squads were head-to-head in the beginning and the result was 4:4 in the 5th minute. Then Újvári and Gajic one-one time and Vojinovic two times could score while the result became 7:5 to Vecsés. In the 10th minute Gajic could change the result to 7:6 and one minute later Nenadic and Manaskov took over the lead to the visitors (7:8). Thanks to the host goalkeeper Norbert Vitáris the game was a draw after 15 minutes: 10:10. But 5 minutes later the nice kempa goal of Manaskov and Nenadic meant a 11:14 lead to “Építők”. The next minutes were better for the hosts, the could come closer but for the 25th minute the visitors had a 3-goal lead again that was increased by the first goal of Szuharev (14:18). The last minutes of the first hald were about the well-saving goalkeepers and Szuharev who scored his second goal which was the last one in the first half. The result was 14:20 for Veszprém.

 

In the first 6 minutes of the second half the hosts scored only one goal but the visitors four (15:24). In the 41st minute the lead of Veszprém was already 9 goal after the successful penalty of Ilic. In the middle of the second half, following the goal of Marguc, the “Építők” had the lead 18:29. In the 50th minute Újvári scored a beautiful goal but it was answered immediately by Mackovsek. That was his 100th goal in Veszprém jersey. Then Mikler saved and the Slovenian left back scored again. Then easy goals from the Veszprém’s wingers came, they were delivered by Marguc and Strlek while on the other side Vojinovic and Radosavljevic scored. Three minutes before the end Veszprém had a lead 24:38. The endgame was better for the home team so the final result became 27:39 for Telekom Veszprém.

 

 

 

 

David Davis: We had this match between the Champions League eight final and the Hungarian Cup FinalFour. If we do not play, then we have training instead. I tried to give everyone time to play and to get the feeling of the game. We knew that our opponent was the last team in the league and that we can use it as a preparation for the Cup. I think it was good for us to play this game. It was not so complicated today.

 

Momir Ilic: A lot of respect to Vecsés, but quality was on our side today. We did not start the first half very well but after that, it was okay, the defense as well. We have to take these kind of games seriously.

 

 

Damir Stojanovic: It is always a pleasure to have these kind of games against Champions League participants. It is a great privilege for me as a coach and my players to play against such players. They were strong and we tried to prepare for them. For us the League Cup is the most important now. We tried some small things to improve and I am satisfied with how they acted and fought on the court while listening to the tactical orders. If we can score against Veszprém from these, I hope we can wcore against weaker teams also.

 

Nebojsa Vojinovic: I am happy that we could play against such a strong Champions League team. We felt like Veszprém was a bit tired and we played well at that time. After that, however, they got better and this shows on the final result. Congratulations to Veszprém.
