Flensburg has signed Emil Jakobsen (GOG Handbol), Anton Lindskog (HSG Wetzlar), Aaron Mensing (TTH Holstebro) and Kevin Moller (Barca) in the summer, while Torbjörn Bergerud (GOG Handbol), Magnus Holpert (GWD Minden), Alexander Petersson (MT Meslungen) and Jacob Heinl have left the club, and Magnus Jondal has decided to retire.
Maik Machulla’s side is currently 6th in Bundesliga: they have won three games (Minden, Lübeccke, Hamburg), lost two (Kiel, Magdeburg) and played one draw (Erlangen). Flensburg is also out of the German Cup after losing to Erlangen in the 1st round.
In the EHF CL Flensburg has one point after the first 4 rounds: they played a draw with PSG (27-27), but lost to Barca (21-25), Porto (27-28) and Kielce (29-37).
Telekom Veszprém has kicked off the season by winning the SEHA League in Croatia, and is still undefeated in the domestic league after the five rounds. Momir Ilic’s side is doing well in the EHF CL too: they have defeated PSG and Barca at home, Porto away, they have only lost to Kielce in Poland.
The two team have last met in 2019 in the quarterfinals of EHF CL: Telekom Veszprém won 28-22 in Flensburg, and 29-25 in Veszprém. The top scorer was Andreas Nilsson with 11 goals in two games.
The referees of Thursday’s game are Radojko Brkic and Andrei Jusufhodzic from Austria. All the tickets are sold out for the game.
