Training on Margit Island

After the training game in Vienna, the team had to prove their strength in completely different circumstances.

 

 

After the match, the team travelled to Budapest where they had a water polo game with Dénes Kemény. We can state that this was a serious challenge for the players. The multiple Olympic winning coach did not exactly know what he had attempted with László Nagy and his team. But after the first instructions he realized that it would be a hard task. They could not accomplish the 200 meters that they had planned; therefore they were soon divided into two groups. The ‘white-cap’ team played against the ‘blue-cap’ team ... and they also had to face a common enemy, the water.

 

 

They soon realized that the organization was not as easy as on the handball court, so Roli continuously asked the team for “backstop”. They confidently shouted back: “save it, Roli”.

 

 

During the training, some of the players admitted that water polo is a great sport, although they were not exactly keen on swimming. Since neither of the two teams was on the defensive, the game was a bit unbalanced. In the blue team Bulcsú Székely and in the white team Attila Vári was trying to hold the scattered team together.

 

 

Coach Ortega asked for substitution several times, although referring to himself.

 

 

As time went by, being bored of the “linear warfare”, Dénes Kemény decided on a relay race to close the game. But we will never know which team won since the players whom we asked claimed that their team was the final winner.

 

 

The joyful morning was ended with a lunch at Holdudvar Restaurant.
