„This team and city mean a lot to me”

As we have announced it Péter Gulyás, our team’s own growth player, has extended his contract with another year so the right wing of the National Team will strengthen Telekom Veszprém’s team in the 2016/17 season. We had a conversation with the player, who is preparing for his 17th season.

You will definitely strengthen Veszprém’s team for another year. How does it feel to prepare for your 17th season?

Well, it would have been great to sign for another 13 years and then I must have reached anything that I wanted to but I cannot complain. To be serious, I am glad and happy because of the contract elongation because this team and city mean a lot to me! I cannot wait for the next season and I will do anything to help the team to collect new trophies and of course to reach the big dream, to win the Champions League. Besides that I also work for the Veszprém second line. I try to give my knowledge and experience to them so they can circuit the road what I did.

This season will be harder and longer than the previous ones.

Yes, it will be. I feel that we can taste how the world of the American major leagues tastes. More than 70 matches are ahead of us, we have a lot to do but that is the reason we have more people for the same posts. Everybody is curious about the new season which will have a lot of clashes both for the fans and players.

You have mentioned that there will be more players for the same posts. Dragan Gajic will arrive for the right wing post besides you and Gasper Marguc. How do you see the position of the three of you?

Dragan have spoken about us with great respect and I can only say the bests of him also. He is a great player; I respect his carrier very much. As he said, the three of us have different game style and I am sure that we can divide the tasks between us superbly. Moreover, not only our post will be powerful but all the others too. It can be said on the basis of our team that we will have one of the biggest chance on the CL. However, if we want that to happen, we have to work united and hard.

I asked it from László Nagy, so I will ask it from you too: If you should mention a match or a moment, in your career in Veszprém what would it be?

I would say only one moment, but fortunately it happens a lot. This is not else but the moment when I step on the court of the Veszprém Arena before the game at the introduction of players. I still have Goosebumps if I think about it. I think that this is worth to start playing handball in Veszprém and working hard. I wish for the juniors to live these moments on a day.
