2018. Dec. 29. Saturday, 12:12
Just as we have done before, we are going to summarize the performance of Telekom Veszprém with the help of various statistics.
This year, two wonderful series of Veszprém Handball Team have been broken. After 10 straight Hungarian championship titles the we were not able to defend it and lost to MOL-Pick Szeged, while after qualifying to the Champions League Final4 4 times in a row, this year’s was organized without the “Építők” in Cologne.
The Hungarian Cup title was not missing from our cabinet this year. We managed to beat Szeged 23:21 and we won our 10th Cup title in row, and the 27th overall.
In the new, 2018/19 season our team has suffered some unexpected losses, however, in the last 1-1,5 months we have fought our way up in the various championship tables by showing improvement. The boys could leave for their winter holidays by climbing to the second place of the K&H League and by getting closer to Vardar by one point in the very strong and balanced Group A in the Champions League.
How did 2018 look according to the numbers? We can check it out by examining these statistics collected by Zoltán Lang.
We played 50 games this year, out of which we won 38 times, lost 11 times while achieving a draw. On preparation games, we had 4 victories and 2 losses.
We played the most games in November, when we had 8 matches and managed to win all of them with the exception of 2.
Regarding the spectators, we can say that each of our Champions League games went on with full house, while the average number of spectators in the Hungarian championship have increased in the Veszprém Arena.
Our biggest victory was against Vási KSE, whom we beat by 21 goals in February. In the Champions League, our biggest victory was against Meshkov Brest also in this month. Our biggest defeat, 7 goals, came from Skjern Handbold in the first game of the Champions League best 16 pahse in Denmark.
Our top scoring game was against Vác and Vecsés, by scoring 42 each time, while the most goals conceded was 33, 5 times: three times from Szeged and once each from Skjern and Kristianstad.
Now let’s see the year of our players! Looking at all the games this year, our top scorer was Dragan Gajic again and also his average goal number was the highest yet again. Kent Robin Tonnesen played the most games from the team.
Dragan Gajic was the top scorer in the Champions League as well, while in the Hungarian championship Petar Nenadic scored the most goals. In the Hungarian Cup Máté Lékai, László Nagy and Dragan Gajic share the first place of top scorer.
We sincerely hope that next year we can give information about more trophies, victories and goals, while telling about fewer defeats and conceded goals.
Let’s go Veszprém in 2019 as well!
