HC PPD Zagreb – THW Kiel 29:22 (13:11)
Even the first day started with a big surprise. The Croatian team has already revealed its strength at home (defeated Kiel with two goals) and Veselin Vujovic helped them improve, but none of the fans expected a 7-goal victory over the German champion.
In the first half, the two teams were overtaking in turn. The defence system of both teams was extremely strong. With the help of Zlatko Horvat, they managed to overtake (8:5), but thanks to the 22-year old wing, Dhamke the guest team moved forward.
In the second half, it was still a neck and neck race. In the Croatian team, Stepancic; while in the German team, Dhamke assisted their team. In the home team, however, Filip Ivic was getting stronger and Obranovic also started scoring. When the host team seemed to be winning (26:21), Zlatko Horvat and Rene Toft Hansen encountered, which resulted in Horvat being suspended. Despite that, the host team gained victory.

The Slovenian team did not start the game easily because the home team overtook right away (6:3), mostly thanks to the goals of Ramazan Döne and Predrag Dacevic. Celje, however, was able to equalize.
