Telekom Veszprém will not participate in the SEHA League

 

Unfortunately, Telekom Veszprém will not participate in the 2018/19 SEHA – Gazprom League season, although our Club found it professionally advantageous, moreover our Supporters could have cheered for the team on more exciting and high quality games.

 

In order for us to participate, our Club suggested a new competition system for the southeast series during this spring. The idea was to have two groups of 5-6 teams who compete against each other for the Final4. The two parties sealed a verbal agreement in Cologne, during the Champions League Final4, that if the SEHA League rearranges the series according to this, the Hungarian record champion will participate in the league.

 

In the last few days, the representatives of SEHA informed us that the two Slovenian teams will not participate in the next season of SEHA – Gazprom League, this way, our Club’s suggestion cannot be carried out and the old system of 10 teams’ round robin will stay and will decide the participants of the Final4. Telekom Veszprém cannot participate in this because it would mean 18-20 games more next season, which would mean a lot of traveling time, which would make the game and training schedule almost impossible to manage.

 

We presented our decision to the top management of SEHA – Gazprom League. The two parties will uphold their great relationship and will revisit the possibility of Telekom Veszprém to join the South East Handball League next year.
