Telekom Veszprém - Veszprémi KKFT 36:20
Telekom Veszprém hosted the „small” Veszprém in a city derby. The guests started the game, but Nilsson scored first, then Marguc twice. The teams played in a fast tempo in attack, that was why the result was 6-3 in the 6. minute. From the guests Fazekas, from the home team Nenadic organized the attacks. Székely was in the goal this time and saved nicely the first two penalties. After the first 15 minutes the home team scored twice more goals than the KKFT (10-5). The home defence was really hard and we could see the physical gap between the teams. Not even Marguc scored his penalty, but the home lead was still growing. Davis took a timeout for the last attack and Mahé scored from it, so the difference was 7 goals in the break.
In the second half Yahia scored the first goal. After a nice air shot goal from the guests, Mahé got 2 minutes suspension. From the guest team had to highlight the teenager Fazekas’s brilliant performance, he already scored 7 goals in the first 36 minutes (21-14). Székely saved 3 times in one attack. With Marguc’s 8. goal the difference was 10 goals for the first time (44. min 27-17). In the last 15 minutes Davis gave each player a chance to play and the scissor was just opening between the teams. The 30. Telekom goal was scored by Yahia after a nice individual move. In the endgame the small Veszprém played a 7 against 6 formation, but not efficiently. With Lauge’s, Mahé’s and Yahia’s many goals Telekom Veszprém reached a confident victory.
David Davis: Our job was not easy, because this was a derby for us. I am satisfied with the way we played and the final result as well. The reactions to our loss on Wednesday was a bit melodramatic, but we lost our first game since February. I would like to ask our Fans, to keep supporting us the way they always do, because we really need them by our side. The team is great, they work hard and perform well. I am happy for the return of Kentin Mahé, he helped us a lot today with his goals.
Kentin Mahé: I am happy to be back and also for our performance after the loss. We would like to continue this good streak. In the opponent team there are a lot of talented Hungarian players, I hope they can improve more and meet them again in bigger clubs.
Csaba Tombor: Congratulations to Veszprém, and thanks to them for taking us seriously. This was our third game in six days and we did not manage to reach the level we wanted to play on. We tried to show our best, but it did not happen today unfortunately.
Gergő Fazekas: Congratulation to Veszprém. I felt my team a bit tired, we could not reach the appropriate level. There is a huge difference between the teams. We are preparing ourselves, another important game awaits us on the next week.
