Telekom Veszprém hosted the great rival Pick Szeged in a full house Veszprém Aréna. Szeged started the game, but after a technical foul Nenadic scored first. Építők ran away by two goals, but Sostaric equalised with a brace. Yahia shot through with nice back shots the high Szeged wall, but the guests answered back every Veszprém’s goal (10. min 5-5). Veszprém was efficient from back shots, while Szeged scored from wing and 7 meters shots. In the middle of the half the guests ran away by 2 goals (7-9). Lauge got 2 minutes suspension, but Cupara saved the penalty. Ilic sent all his players to the court in the first half to catch up the rhythm of the game. Építők took back the lead with a 3-0 serie and Szeged called a timeout (23. min 12-11). In the endgame of the half Henigman got a red card for a head punch. The first half was closed with two nice Veszprém’s goals.
The second half started with a missed home attack, then came a Nenadic bomb goal. Marguc scored his penalty and the home advantage was two goals again. In the second half Cupara was in the goal and came into the game with nice saves. After 10 minutes play the difference grew to 4 goals with Marguc’s goal, so Szeged called a timeout (20-16). Strlek played very well and scored from impossible angles, too. In the middle of the half Veszprém used badly a powerplay and let Szeged back by 2 goals (23-21). Then Szeged equalised again 12 minutes to go, now Ilic had to take a timeout, because Veszprém stopped in attack. Marguc scored two important penalties and Veszprém took its minimal lead (54. min 25-24). Cupara saved a very important penalty and Nilsson scored in attack. 12 seconds before the end Szeged equalised and Ilic called his last timeout. Unfortunately from the last attack there was no goal, the teams finished draw.

It was a tough game from the beginning, we played a good first half except the last few minutes. In the second half we were bad in attack and that was why Veszprém could run away. Then after some home mistakes we could come back into the game. I think it is a fair draw, but we have to improve a lot in the future.

It was a really difficult and tough match. In the first half we controlled the game, but in the second half Veszprém was getting better, so we had to make some changes. Thankfully, it worked and we could come back from four goals behind. We improved a lot, especially in attack. We are satisfied with this point, it could be very important. We continue in the Champions League.

Congratulations to Szeged! I cannot say I’m satisfied because we were four goals up and still not win the game. We had a slow start to the game, then we improved a lot, but in the dying minutes Szeged could score some easy goals. Three days from now we have to play in Zaporozhye, so we need to prepare for that. Good luck to Szeged in the Champions League!

It was a game what we expected. We wanted to win, we had very good periods, but then we made crucial mistakes, from these Szeged could come back. I am sorry that we lost a point. We have to improve, important games await for us.
