Telekom Veszprém - KTE - Piroska szörp 42-24

Telekom Veszprém hosted the rookie team Kecskemét in the Veszprém Aréna. Veszprém started the game and Maqueda had a big opportunity and he scored. 3 Hungarian national player and the injured Manaskov missed this match, because of these, Veszprém played in 5:1 formation in defense. Veszprém made a quick start and after 5 minutes there was 6:2 on the scoreboard, the guests called a timeout. Strlek missed three big clear chances, but despite of these the Építők’s advantage was growing (12. min 10-4). After 15 minutes play Ilic changed in middle positions and Yahia scored nice back shots, including his own 300th goal in Veszprém jersey. Both team played well in attack, the home team scored over 20 goals in the first half.

 

The second half started with a Cupara save and the three young Hungarian player came to the court. Marguc could practice the fastbreaks, his another goal the difference was a dozen (36. min 26-14). Lukács scored from a nice individual move, then Ilic scored after a ball steal. The 30th Veszprém’s goal was scored by Mahé from left wing, then reaching the middle of the half Kecskemét called a timeout again. Lauge got a 2 minutes suspension and after a lost ball the guests scored an empty net goal (49. min 32-19). Lukács played very well, he scored many nice goals. On the right wing position Dörnyei scored all his chances and Veszprém reached 40 goals thanks to Mahé. At the end Veszprém clinched an easy victory.

First of all congratulations for the Veszprém team. My team in defence was working on the expected level, but in attack we made a lot of big mistakes. I think we shouldn’t play like this in Veszprém Aréna. Veszprém defence was working good and stolen a few ball and scored easy goals, because of our mistakes. They deserved the victory, congratulation again.

 

 

 
There is a huge difference between the two teams, this was our first game against a great team. I hope we can play with less mistake in the future as soon as our young players have bigger experience.
 

 

 

Congratulations to Kecskemét and to my team as well. We were experiencing with a new system in defence, in the first half we made a few mistakes, but altogether I’m happy with today’s performance and the character we have shown.

It was a good game with high tempo. I am happy that in the second half we, younger players got opportunity to play. We had nice moves, but many mistakes, too. In the future we have to be more concentrated.
