After a half year Veszprém played again in front of spectators against Balatonfüred. Veszprém led the first attack and Nenadic scored from penalty. After Maqueda’s goal Corrales saved a penalty, but Topic scored the first Füred’s goal in the 5. minute. With Maqueda’s third goal, the result was 5-2 in the 10. minute. For the middle of the first half Veszprém earned a 4 goals lead (9-5). Davis changed in back positions, Veszprém reached a lot of penalties, but Nenadic missed two in a row. 8 minutes to go Füred came back by one goal. Lékai returned from a long injury and gave a nice assist to Markussen. Füred took the lead in the 29. minute, but for the break it was a draw.
 
The second half started with a Tönnessen’s and Nenadic’s goal, then Blagotinsek got 2 minutes suspension, from that Füred scored 3 goals in a row (36. min 14-15). Veszprém missed many clear chances, but despite of that Füred called a timeout after 40 minutes (16-17). Borozan scored bomb goals, with them Veszprém took the lead again. In the middle of the half the result was still draw. Nilsson got 2 minutes suspension and after a lot of Veszprém offensive faults Füred ran away by 3 goals (48. min 19-22). Davis called a timeout and with 3 fast goals Veszprém equalised. The endgame was very exciting again. In the last minute Davis called his last timeout at draw, but the result did not change.
 

 

David Davis: I was quite satisfied with the first half because the defense was working good. Everybody was moving well and they were aggressive. We only let 12 goals to be scored against us, but we missed a lot of clear chances. I hoped to correct this in the second half, but we continued missing shots. In the first games, the defense was not good enough, but the offense was good. Today the defense was good, but the offense not so much. We need to work a lot, because we are far from the way we should be. From Monday we will start again.
 
Gasper Marguc: We cannot be happy with the performance we showed today. We can say that we had an improvement in the defense, but the attack was under our level. We missed too many chances. We came back to the game and had a chance to win, but this tie against Balatonfüred in our own Arena is not acceptable. Every player has to start by himself, to think about the game and how to help the team improve in the game. We have to continue working and going gall the way up.
 
László György: I think we played with discipline both in offense and defense. Scoring 26 goals in Veszprém Arena is not bad. We had a solid goalkeeper performance, but we cannot overestimate this victory. We have a lot of work to do and we have to be really good for the start of the championship on 6 September. We can gain some confidence from this game. Good luck to Veszprém for the rest of the season.
 
Bence Szűcs: It was good to play against my former team. We have a lot of new players, who has to integrate still and adapt to the system. I played confidently today, without any fear.
