Today, the official draw of the VELUX EHF Champions League Final4 has been held. Telekom Veszprém will face PGE Vive Kielce in the semi final, while the other semi final will be between Barca Lassa and HC Vardar. After the draw, our head coach, captain and two other players told us their thoughts.
David Davis: I cannot tell that I am happy for our opponent because they are such a complicated one, just like the others that arrive to the quarterfinals. It is well deserved to every team to be here. If you look at how Kielce played in the quarterfinal, you will see that they are in a good moment and that they are a very dangerous team. They beat Paris who everyone thought would win the Champions League. I think they are the worst opponent we could have got on the draw. They have a great coach, Talant Dujshebaev, who has been in the Final4 a lot of times, and not only with the same team, but different ones and he won Final4s as well. He knows how to play these matches. The last time they won the Final4 was against Veszprém. I think they are the worst opponent we could have got.
László Nagy: There is no weak teams here anymore. I think that this year’s Final4 will be a close one, at least I hope it will be, and also I hope that we can come out with as good of a performance as we did in our last CL games. Of course we some things to avenge against Kielce. Every game is different, they conceded some unwanted losses during the season, so we cannot think about the games we played against them during the group phase. They came out of the hole they were in, and about a team that can beat Paris by ten goals, you cannot say anything bad professionally. It will be a very hard game, and a well prepared Kielce will wait for us.
Máté Lékai: It is very special for me, and for us to get Kielce, because I think everyone remembers the final between us a few years ago. We lost from nine goals, so now we have a chance to revenge that. Every team needs to win two games to win the Final4, so we will see. We were the fourth, the third and second many times, so of course our goal is to catch a first place this year. Kielce had a lot of injuries during the year, and I think that if every player is healthy at the opponent than they are a great team with a great coach. It will be a tough game for us on Saturday.
Dragan Gajic: I think that it is impossible to say if it is good or bad for us. Over the years, EHF Final4 always proved that there are no favorites in the competition. Personally, I do not care who we play against, I am just happy that we are there and that we are a part of this big event. We play against Kielce, whom against we have already played two times but that does not mean anything. It is going to be a special game in Cologne. We are in a good moment, we have to be confident and we have to believe in what we are doing.
