Statements after CL draw

As we have already announced, the draw of Champions League’s eight final was today and MKB-MVM Veszprém got the Spanish Naturhouse La Rioja as the opponent team. We made an interview with our coach and some players.

 

 

Carlos Ortega: At this stage of CL, there aren’t any easy games, but I’m happy to have La Rioja as the opponent team because it will be nice to have a match in Spain. They currently have two injured players so they are not in their best form lately; it is not sure whether they will have been recovered by the time of the game. We have to take this team seriously instead of thinking about our next opponent. We need maximum concentration because in the eight final they definitely will play hard. Considering the other matchups, the clash of Kiel and Flensburg will be significant, and also tight, while the other matches will be more or less on the same level.

 

 

Chema Rodríguez: I think the draw was really favorable for us. Although, La Rioja is a great team and plays intelligent handball, I think that out of the probable opponents they might be the least strong team; moreover they were not in their best from lately.

 

Carlos Ruesga: There are no easy opponents. La Rioja is a good team; they showed it for example in the game against PSG. At home they are especially great and dangerous for every team. We have to perform our best so that we can qualify.

 

 

Cristian Ugalde: I’m glad that we are playing in Spain because my family and friends can see me in the game live. The knockout stage is always hard and against La Rioja it will be the same but I hope that we can qualify. There are many serious matchups but I would highlight Szeged – Löwen and Kiel – Flensburg games.

 

Gasper Marguc: This draw was favorable for us, although out of the last 16 teams, there are no weak teams. We are the probable winners of this clash but it won’t be easy to win against La Rioja, especially in an away match. We have to prepare for the game and play hard. I hope we qualify.
