2017. Jan. 31. Tuesday, 15:05
World Championship has come to an end on Sunday with the glory of France so the Clubs are in the focus of the attention again. Telekom Veszprém starts its spring season and we hope that they will be able to hold the trophies in their hands a lot during the upcoming months.
The Hungarian National Team is on the 7th place of the World Championship but the Swedish Nilsson and Slovenian Marguc and Blagotinsek were also involved in national teams. The Scandinavian team were among the best eight just as our team, while our ‘neighbors’ got the bronze medal with brilliant performance.
The rest of the team started the preparation on the second week of January in Veszprém with the help of assistant coach Josep Espar Moya. These players were on the court last Friday with some of the juniors and they won against Balatonfüredi KSE for 37:32 in the frames of a preparation match.
We will play in Balatonboglár on Tuesday against the U23 Hungarian National Team.
Péter Gulyás and Gergő Iváncsik came back the earliest from France. They got an individual training plan and they are preparing for the second half of the season by doing a shortened training session since the middle of last week. The other Veszprém players of the National Team, including László Nagy, Schuch Timuzsin, Roland Mikler, Gábor Ancsin, Máté Lékai and Patrik Ligetvári, will join the others from Wednesday just as Andreas Nilsson.
Aron Palmarsson will start his training today, however he can be trained gradually because of his previous groin injury.
Gasper Marguc and Blaz Blagotinsek can rest a little because they played on Saturday and they will only have to start their training on the second half of the week at earliest.
Mirko Alilovic recovered from his calf problem and he trained with full strength in the last few weeks, fortunately without any complaints.
Cristian Ugalde was often complaining about his headache during the trainings after his concussion, that he got in Paris, but his condition continues to improve. He is in Barcelona currently in order to get examined by the doctors there. Hopefully he can perform full work in a few days.
Ivan Sliskovic had to miss the whole fall season because he was diagnosed with mononucleosis after the Olympic Games in Rio. The Croatian left back recovered from his infection so he could start his training in January but our doctors have an eye on him. The most important thing for him was to strengthen his muscles so he was in the gym a lot. According to the plans, he can join the team on this week.
Telekom Veszprém starts the second half of the 2016/17 season with two SEHA League matches on this weekend. On Saturday, the Metalurg Skopje will be the opponent of the Hungarian record champion from 6PM and the next day Ljubiski Izvidac will play against them in the Veszprém Arena from 7:15PM (modified time!).
Besides all these things, we would like to inform our dear Fans that more of our matches will be played on different days compared to the previous announcement. We will play in Gyöngyös on February 17, while in Tatabánya on February 21 or 22 as the bronze medalist of the last championship’s EHF Cup match will be on March 4. We would like to postpone our home court match against Tatran Presov for March 5, of course by consulting it with the Slovakian Club. We are waiting for the approval of the SEHA League currently.
