The Hungarian championship game between Komló and Veszprém was started with a huge save by Rodrigo Corrales, then Moraes fought until a penalty, which was scored by Marguc. The home team was taking their time with the attacks, but this can easily be just because of the really good defense early in the game. The lead was 2:4 in the 10th minute. In the second part of the first period, the „Építők” started their 5-1 defense once again, which confused the already not so confident Komló attackers. In a short period of time, Veszprém took a four goals lead of 5:9. By the end of the period, they put two more to the difference, and were up 9:15 in the break.
Vladimir Cupara took over the net in the second half, but he was unable to stop the shot of Jerkovic. Telekom was able to score even in a two men down situation. Komló came on strong in the first few minutes of the second period and came back to three goals, 15:18 in the 38th minute. Veszprém was rushing things, which made them commit technical mistakes in this period of time. The scoreboard showed 18:22 in the 45th minute. The home team was slowly getting exhausted, from which Veszprém scored easy goals. Cupara was really warming up into the match. Ten minutes before the end the „Építők” was up 18:26. Telekom Veszprém managed to beat Komló with good defense and a low number of conceded goals, keeping the unbeaten run in the Hungarian league. Final result: Komló – Veszprém 22:30
David Davis: Today’s game was useful because we wanted to practice the 5-1 defense. There were a lot of suspensions in the first and second periods as well. Alexander Djurdjevic was great in goal. The guys did not perform in the second half, like they did in the first, but the suspensions gave us chances to score.
Kent Robin Tonnesen: We always play a fierce game against Komló, because they are fighters on home court. The suspensions made the game a close one, but we are happy for the victory.
Bálint Kilvinger: Congratulations to Veszprém and good luck to them in the rest of the season. We were a bit dull in the beginning, but we we played well in the second half. Although we played the man advantages well, we missed a lot of clear chances. We have to fight against teams like Veszprém to stay in competitions.
Alexander Djurdjevic: We played well, but I could feel the tiredness on both teams. The final result does not show the real image of the game, as it was a fierce one. We carry on with the preparations.
