SEHA League Final Four press conference

Today at 11 am the first official press conference was held in Thália Theatre relating to SEHA Gazprom League and Final Four which takes place in Veszprém between 25 and 29 March. The event gained huge attention in the media.

 

 

Gábor Kálomista, MKB-MVM Veszprém’s co-president opened the talks. First he congratulated each Hungarian team on the international successes at the last weekend, especially on the triumph of Szeged against Löwen. He added that in Hungary this sport is extremely popular; we have big expectations in connection with the organization because Veszprém has never organized such monumental tournament. According to him, the teams are facing tight games. Several teams which still took part in Champions League and some of the world’s best payers are coming to Veszprém.

 

 

Mihajlo Mihajlovski, SEHA League’s president praised the town of Veszprém and the team of MKB-MVM Veszprém which he considers the last 10 years’ best team. He believes that the Hungarian Club made the League more interesting and reached a higher level. It helped the tournament to get closer to its aims namely reaching the high-standard of the German Bundesliga and French Championship. He said that the sponsorship contract with Gazprom lasts for 2 years. The co-operation between the contractants is great thus they are ready for contract extension strengthening SEHA League’s project. 90 games have been broadcast live on television so far, 22 live online streams have been available in 5 countries; on the average 2600 spectators have been in the matches, which is definitely promising. He thinks that Veszprém will be a great host and hopes that the tournament will be managed even better than the previous ones.

 

 

Sinisa Ostoic, SEHA League’s director first thank Veszprém for organizing the tournament. The reason of the title SEHA League’s final tournament what that the regular season was very tight therefore they decided on giving chance for 6 teams to get into the final. On Wednesday there will be small playoff where the regular season’s 3rd team will play with the 6th and 4th team with the 5th in order to get into the semi-final on Friday. The final and the bronze match will be on Sunday. He hopes that all the 6 matches will be interesting and exciting for the fans, and he also hopes that at the end of Sunday everyone will look back satisfied to the tournament. He promises that the event will be really spectacular with the high-standard handball completed with other entertaining events.

 

 

Gyula Porga, Veszprém City’s mayor thanked SEHA League’s delegates for the assignment of the organization which he considers a sport diplomatic success. According to him, this will be the most prestigious sport event in Veszprém Arena’s history. SEHA League did the right thing in choosing Veszprém since the town has a professional facility, a professional management in the Club which is apt for organizing the event. Moreover, Veszprém’s team is a probable winner; the town has an outstanding handball community which warmly welcomes this tournament. He hopes that this year’s tournament will be successful which convince the decision makers to finish SEHA League’s season next year here as well.
