We will take a look back to the play of MVM Veszprem's team in the following weeks. We will see how they have played in different championship-series in season 2015/16. In the first part we will deal with SEHA League.
The Hungarian record champion has played in the league in 2014/15 for the first time. At the end of the season the final battle was organized in Veszprem with six teams and "Építök" has won the championship. In season 2015/16 they have played in this competition again.
After the Super Cup in August the first SEHA League game was our second very important match in the season. On 1, September we have defeated Meshkov Brest (31:24), against whom we have played in the final at the end of the previous announcement. We have not lost in this championship series; however against Vardar we could not win neither at home nor away. Both game were draw against the Macedonian champion (24:24 and 30:30)
The bests of the season were chosen by the trainers and the players at the end of the regular season. According to this, Momir Ilic became the best player, but László Nagy and Chema Rodrígues also became the members of the dream team.
In the SEHA League the so-called Final4 was organized, which was located in Varasd, Croatia. "Építők" managed to come here unbeaten and they were the winner of the regular season, so their opponent in the semifinal was Meshkov Brest, who was the fourth one. However we managed to conquer the Belarusians (at home with 7, abroad with 12 goals (25:37)), it was a real challenge against them in the finals. The Hungarian record-champion could defeat its rival in the shootout. They have managed to make the game equal after a 5-goal fallback.
In the finals, our opponent was Vardar Skopje, who defeated PPD Zagreb. This match was more focused than the previous ones, but it was still hard against the Sterbiks, just like every time in the whole season. In the half-time we had a one-goal fallback, however in the second half we managed to turn the match around and we could win with 2 goals in front of more than 1000 Veszprém fans. We have won the trophy in our second SEHA League season. Momir Ilic became the best player of the Final4, but Christian Ugalde also became the All-Star team’s member.
In conclusion, we finished the 2015/16 SEHA League season unbeaten with 18 victories and 2 draws.
We played 20 matches in this season in the SEHA League but not every player was in the team in every matches. Máté Lékai and Andreas Nilsson were on the court 19 times and Gasper Marguc scored the most (94 goals). Moreover he had the highest goal-average with 5.22.
We scored the most against Zomimac Strumica and we also had the highest goal difference against them. We defeated them with a rate of 50:16.
Altogether 4022 fans visited our SEHA League games but a lot of them were curious about our matches away.
