Right after the draw we called our new head coach, Ljubomir Vranjes, who is currently spending his vacation, our goalkeeper of the Hungarian National Team, Roland Mikler and our brand new signing Mátyás Győri. They reacted the following about the VELUX EHF Champions League group phase draw of season 2017/2018.
Ljubomir Vranjes: Our group got really tough but it is never easy in the Champions League. We know these teams and all of them are hard opponents. Kielce got better this summer, they will be an ever tougher opponent to face. Everybody knows Paris while Meshkov Brest showed last season how well they can play. Celje and Aalborg are two very good teams which plays great handball. I do not really think I have to say that much about Flensburg and Kiel. This is a very good group but the same goes to the other group. If we want to win this one we have to be able to defeat all our opponents. We will try to give our best and reach one of the two top spots in the group.

Roland Mikler: I am not unsatisfied all in all, I am sure that it could have been an easier group but not by much. It is not so bad and we will have a lot of games where we will have extra motivation. I think these games will be the ones against Kielce and Paris, we have some unfinished business with both of these teams. We regularly meet Kiel but they and Flensburg will be well researched by couch Vranjes and we will be able to prepare well against them. We regularly meet Celje too, which is great because it is near and our supporters can help us on the spot. We have known Brest for a long time from the SEHA League while in my opinion we have better chances against Aalborg than against Zagreb. In conclusion it can be said that the two top groups are more evenly spread this time.

Mátyás Győri: It looks to me that the groups are more even this year, maybe ours is tougher because of the two German teams. This will be my first Champions League season and I am very excited about it because hopefully I will be able to step on court against these top teams. I have always wanted to reach this level to play against such great teams. I will do whatever it takes to prove in Veszprém colors and to help the team. I am looking forward to these games.
