Promising young talent joins Telekom Veszprém
It is a well-known fact that Fazekas Gergő, is the first-born son of Veszprém icon Fazekas Nándor, a 10-time Hungarian champion, 8-time Hungarian cup winner, 4th place Olympics placeholder and CL finalist. Gergő’s unconditional love for handball can be traced back to his father’s years in Gummersbach, where he eagerly followed Bundesliga icon, Momir Ilic. He tried to mimic every shot and movement of Momir. This lead him on a straight path to his debut in professional handball.
In the 2020/21 season, with outstanding performances, Gergő quickly became a central figure in the freshly promoted Veszprémi KKFT. They finished in 7th place last season, and in their game against Telekom Veszprém in November 2020, Gergő scored a whopping 9 goals.
Born in 2003, the 17-year-old playmaker scored 192 goals in 38 matches, and he even received an international call-up in October 2021, which is a real privilege at the age of 17.
Gergő, one of the most promising young talents of Hungarian handball, will be joining our club from next season.
Welcome to Veszprém, Gergő!
