Press conference in Veszprém

The transformed Veszprém Handball Sport Club and its management the Veszprém Handball Team co. ltd held a press conference yesterday where they gave information about the recent changes and the future goals.

 

János Szabó, President of the Veszprém Handball Sport Club: Thank you all for coming. I think during the first 30 days after the corporate reconstruction, the management has been productive, and we could find solution for the most important issues – including the position of the head coach. We needed these changes to be able to become even more successful in the future. On the one hand, the new management intends to provide the support necessary for the effective function through their relations; on the other hand, the managers put emphasis on the sport professionalism thanks to the membership of István Csoknyai and László Nagy. The co. ltd. is responsible for the daily working. It is important to highlight that the team’s biggest supporters are the fans. If it wasn’t for them, the Club would not be as successful as it is. This is why we want to satisfy them. This team does not only belong to Veszprém but to the whole country. Meeting the demands is hard. We will do our best.

 

Gábor Kálomista, Managing Director of the Veszprém Handball Team Co. Ltd.: The team is operated by the co. Ltd. which has been through great changes; they established the board and there are new members in the supervisory committee. Veszprém city is going to acquire a holding in the co. Ltd. so we can get even closer to the city. Our achievements show that we are on the right path so there will not be any particular changes in our squad. Our players like playing here and the team has become an extremely cohesive one. We take our youth system seriously, we want to give opportunities for the youngsters and we don’t forget our players on loan in Hungary or abroad. We have a stable financial status thanks to the support of the Hungarian Handball Association which wants to establish a strong national championship. We have everything to fight for our goals.

 

Javier Sabate, Head Coach of MVM Veszprém: First of all, I’d like to thank the management for the support and the opportunity. I am happy to be here in Veszprém. I am grateful for the love of the fans; they have been so good to me. I am also grateful to my players for having faith in me; this is really important to me. A team like Veszprém wants to win everything. But I cannot make sure that it will happen since this is a very hard season for the teams, there are many injured players. However, I can assure everyone that we are going to fight and work hard which will lead to great achievements.

 

Zsolt Fazekas, Secretary General of the Veszprém Handball Sport Club: We are proud to say that the team of Veszprém really belongs to Veszprém. The team also represents the interests of the whole country. That’s why we want as many corporate supporters as we had in 2003. For this purpose, we would like to establish a system which even more companies can join. We are working on another system for our fans through which they can become supporters as well. Among the Hungarian sport teams, ours has the best capacity utilization. But we would like to have even more visitors of our games. In order to this and also because Hungary has plans hosting international tournaments, we hope that the enlargement of the Veszprém Arena will begin soon.
