Before leaving to Qatar, Coach Ortega, Péter Gulyás, Gergő Iváncsik and Máté Lékai shared their thoughts about the Super Globe.
Carlos Ortega: This is going to be a great tournament and a great challenge for the European teams. We are travelling to a different country where I’ve never been before. We have to take each team seriously. We didn’t get much information about the Brazilian team that we are facing but it is clear that they have a totally different style from what we got used to. They are fast and have different defence system; I’m sure that they will be hard to defeat. But I really hope that we can make it to the next round. For a team like Veszprém, the main goal is to gain trophy so we definitely want to get into the final. But like I said, we don’t know much about the teams which might cause a problem. As I’ve always said, we need to move forward step by step (laughing).

Péter Gulyás: I’ve once participated in the Super Globe. Me and other players from Veszprém; (Dejan) Perics, Terza (Mirsad Terzic), Nikola (Eklemovic), Csárli (Carlos Perez), Geri (Gergő Iváncsik), (Marko) Vujin have taken part in Al Sadd jersey back then. I really liked the tournament which had been greatly organized and where the continent champions participated but I do think that Europe is at the top. I hope that we can play with Barcelona in the final, which would be a rematch of the CL final. Both teams have players who left and who are a new so I expect a big game and I want to end up in the best place as possible.

Gergő Iváncsik: We know almost nothing about the Arab teams but obviously we have to prepare for them as much as for the Brazilian team which is a quite strong squad: they are fast, tough and sometimes even aggressive. We have to prepare for that and win in the end. We would like to get into the final of the tournament where we probably have to face Barcelona. So we have the chance to take revenge for the CL final.
Máté Lékai: I’m really excited to go to the tournament; I’ve never been to Qatar. We are facing the Club World Championship, which is a huge honour. I hope we can perform well and get into the final where we might play against Barcelona. I hope that our team can still improve and be in an even better condition, since it is followed by the Champions League where the stakes are higher.
