Pre-Hungarian Cup statements

 

The Hungarian Cup FinalFour will kick off on Saturday in Debrecen in the Főnix Hall, where besides Telekom Veszprém, RotaChrom Dabas, Balatonfüredi KSE and MOL-Pick Szeged will participate. We talked to our head coach and players about the first game against Dabas, and their all around expectations about the event itself.

 

David Davis: The Cup is always a beautiful tournament because it is different from the league, and anything can happen in one match. We have played the quarterfinal against Tatabánya and it was a special game. I expect the same in Debrecen. I was following the women’s tournament and there was a great ambiance. I hope that we can also have a good tournament. We will play against Dabas, which is a complicated team to play against. They are a middle league team and it is going to be good for us. We go there to win the Cup. We will see what happen in the games but we go with a lot of motivation. We won the last 10 Cups in a row, so we want to continue this way. If we can beat Dabas on Saturday, we will face the winner of Szeged – Balatonfüred, which will also be interesting to see how it develops. We will be ready for the game no matter whom we play against, and we want to take the Cup yet again to Veszprém!

 

 

László Nagy: We have a stake in front of us that we work for all year. This can be our first title this season and as we have claimed the trophy last year, we would like to keep it ours this year. We will play against Dabas first and I think, that if we will be disciplined and give ourselves, without disrespecting Dabas, they should not mean difficulty for a team like Veszprém. If we go through them, we will play with either Balatonfüred or Szeged, but most likely the latter one. We have things to revenge against them, and we will try to show it on the court. I hope that a lot of Veszprém fans will support us in Debrecen, and we will be able to celebrate yet another Hungarian Cup title.

 

Andreas Nilsson: This FinalFour concept is a nice one and Debrecen is a great place to hold it. A lot of fans come to the game and of course we are looking forward to it. Hopefully, we are going to come home with a title, that is our goal for the weekend. We start off against Dabas, who is going to be a tough opponent. However, we hope that we can reach the final and we will see what happens there.

 

Borut Mackovsek: This is going to be my first Hungarian Cup FinalFour for me, and I think it is going to be hard. Of course, I think it is time for us to finally win. I expect nothing else from us, than bringing the cup back home to Veszprém. I think we can and should bring our good form to the cup matches, because I expect to play against Szeged in the final and it will be very hard. We have to be at our very best.
