Before the Leier Handball Super Cup, Coach Ortega has been intrigued by two problems. Mirsad Terzic’s elbow has been injured, while Christian Zeitz has had stomach problems. Zeitz was able to play so this time our Bosnian player had not been involved.

 

 

After the suspension of László Nagy and a penalty, Szeged has been in a better position, but thanks to our captain getting back to the court, and Sulic as well as the score of Ilic, we took over. Mirko had been great at saving, while “Momo” started to take actions and scored three goals in a row. The defence wall led by László Nagy and Schuch Timuzsin did not really leave any chance for Szeged. In addition, in the middle of our defence wall Sliskovic also got to prove his strength.

 

After 10:6, we “slowed down” a little bit which resulted in the team of ‘Tisza-part’ closing up with two goals. The situation was saved by Nilsson and “Építők” took over again (15:8). The first half was ended with a 5-goal difference (16:11).

 

 

We kept going our playing style in the second half. But at the beginning of this half, the team was led by Lékai and Mikler stood in the middle of the goal who kept a goal right away, then penalties (19:12). Marguc turned out to be very productive and the great teamwork modified the result to 23:15. Pálmarsson assisted Nilsson who succeeded. This was followed by a great shot of Christian Zeitz indicating that the stomach pain could not stop him. The fans of Veszprém started to encourage the audience to make waving then they chanted “We are at home.”

 

Szeged, however, made attempts to close up (25:22), and then the 3-goal difference remained for a while. The final result is 26:24 so we won the Super Cup again. Jonas Kallman (“Superman”) from Szeged was chosen as the best player of the match.
