Montpellier – Veszprém pregame statements

 

Montpellier HB will host Telekom Veszprém in the VELUX EHF Champions League on Sunday at 19:00 in France. We asked our head coach and players about their expectations before the game.

 

David Davis: Montpellier is a well-known team in the Champions League; they even won it two years ago. I have a big respect for them. They are hard team to play against because they play really freely and spontaneously. Of course there are a lot of work behind that, but their attack is really good, maybe one of the best in the Champions League. Their defense is great as well, paired with good goalkeepers. They fight a lot at home until the end. It is going to be a complicated match, more so as everyone is starting to find their place in our team.

 

 

Petar Nenadic: It is going to be a tough game like always. In the game against Kiel, it was a bad day, everything went wrong but it is still the beginning. We will fight against Montpellier. Like every other game in our group, it is going to be only a one-goal game. We expect that we play much much better than we did against Kiel.

 

 

Rasmus Lauge Schmidt: I have not played against Montpellier for almost three years now but they play fast handball, with a lot of power and a lot of duel one against one. They always have a strong defense, out of which they run the fastbreaks very well. We have to be ready, and make much less mistakes than we did against Kiel at home otherwise they will run past us. I think that is the recipe; not too many mistakes and a strong defense, so we can keep them in check.

 

 

Vladimir Cupara: Montpellier is a really good team. They have some great new signings, like Duarte and Sego. I expect a difficult game but I am sure that we will be ready for them.
