The fans welcomed the teams with a great atmosphere in the derby in Szeged. In the beginning of the game, Mikler and Wysomirski performed well in defence but Wysomirski was unable to continue the game in this level and was substituted by Sierra in the home team. In the team of Veszprém, László Nagy és Momir Ilic offended effectively from outside. When Sulic could join them, except a goalpost he did not fail. In the other team, Kallman and Parrondo tried to close up but in the first half the guest team ended up with a 2-goal difference.

 

In the beginning of the second half, Veszprém took over with even 4 goals, however taking advantage of the suspensions, Szeged closed up. In spite of that, in the most critical moments Mikler saved his team so the home team could not take over. In the 45th minute they tied the game but then Veszprém surmounted his opponent team mostly thanks to the goals of Lékai, Marguc, and Nilsson as well as the effective defensive wall. The guest team won the match with 6 goals.

 

Antonio Carlos Ortega: Congratulations to Szeged, the final result is not the reality. We mostly succeeded due to the great performance of our goalkeeper. I’m happy with the victory because defeating Szeged in an away match is extremely difficult; we saw it in the Champions League. It’s important that we can start the Championship finals at home.

 

Juan Carlos Pastor: Congratulations to Veszprém, they deserved the victory. Roland Mikler performed great; we were not able to score more goals. Veszprém had several easy scores in the first half thanks to the Chema-Sulic connection. In the second half, we could make our best of their suspensions but finally Veszprém won confidently. We want to defeat Veszprém at least one in this season and try to have a 3-game final. I’m grateful for the support of our fans.

 

Roland Mikler: Thanks for the compliments but the whole team deserves them. Ever since I have transferred, I wanted to come back; I recalled a lot of memories. I wanted to perform my best and I think I did so I’m very happy. If our defence still remains stabile, we will be undefeatable.

 

Gábor Ancsin: Congratulations to Veszprém! They could take advantage of our shortcomings, we were not able to weaken the Sulic-Chema duo, and they scored many goals. Now we have more time to prepare, and we need it actually because we are facing a hard final.
