MKB-MVM Veszprém’s defence was characterized by the strong 6-wall and Mikler’s brilliant game, while its offense was characterized by Christian Zeitz’s spectacular goals. The game of MOL-Pick Szeged was memorable for its strong 5-1 defence and Parrondo’s goals. Carlos Pastor first asked for a break in the 13th minute (8:4). After the break, Zeitz was still the most productive player; he ended up the first half with 8 goals and then Momir Ilic also started scoring. In the other team Bombac, Ancsin and Prodanovics performed best so the result at the end of the first half was 14:12.

 

In the second half, the “Tisza-part” team started to close up (15:14) but with Gergő Iváncsik’s 2000th goal in Veszprém jersey then with Ilic’s and Chema’s goals, the home took over. Prodanovic and Ancsin on the other side tried to improve their result but after Zeitz’s 9th and 10th goal the difference was 8 points (26:18). However, Szeged did not give up and reduced the difference to 5 points.

 

 

Carlos Ortega: The match went according to our expectations. They started with 5-1 defence as we expected and I think we were great in offence. However, we had some troubles regarding the defence and also the offence after Momir Ilic’s 2-minute suspension. Both teams performed well, I am satisfied with my team because all players strove for victory as well as for each other. Now we have to move on and concentrate on Paris.

 

Christian Zeitz: I performed quite well in the first 30 minutes but then I had to realize that I’m getting old because after the first half I became tired; I am not able to struggle for 60 minutes. Others have to decide whether this was my best game but anyhow I want to continue performance of today. The most important thing is our victory, we are really happy about it.
