Máté Lékai played outstandingly in the Hungarian Cup final, but later suffered an unlucky injury. Now he speaks about his thumb and about the Hungarian Cup.
First and most important question: How is your thumb? How did the operation go?
I do not feel so good. It hurts a lot still but the surgery went well. The doctors said that it was a difficult one, because my thumb broke to so much pieces. They fixed and screwed everything back together. The doctor who did the operation said that it was all right but it took a very long time, about 2 hours to finish. They did not say anything about the recovery, as it is depending on the way my finger heals. Naturally, I will do everything that my doctors say, in order to start the rehabilitation as soon as possible.
How did you see the Hungarian Cup Final4 last weekend?
I wish that we will never have a worse Final4 regarding the outcome. I wish we could win 2 games in the Champions League Final4 once. We were very happy about the victory, it helped the soul of everyone, ours, the Fans’ and the boards’ as well. We played a great game against Szeged. Our defense and goalkeeper performance was sensational. Those were the fundamentals for the triumph.
You were excellent in the final, you scored 6 goals, how did you feel yourself on the court?
I felt very well, until about the 50th minute. I was enjoying the game, especially against Szeged in such an atmosphere. I am sad that this injury happened. It was an innocent situation, it was not dangerous at all, and it was only a bad touch. Unfortunately, it is what it is.
What are your expectations about the rest of the season?
Our goals are obvious. We have already won the regular season of the championship, although we still have 2 games left and the final. I hope that we will be the champions, this is our aim. I also hope that the injuries will avoid the team from now on, because we had a lot this season. It is enough to mention William Accambray, Mátyás Győri or the two injuries of László Nagy. I hope no more injuries will occur.
