Match preview: Tatabánya – Veszprém
In last season’s Hungarian K&H League, Tatabánya managed an impressive 3rd place, consequently the club is preparing for the EHF Cup campaign as well. The backbone of the team has been together for years, the players of which need no introduction for Veszprém Fans. There have also been player transfers at the club; Adrián Sípos left, who as of this summer, is strengthening Telekom Veszprém. Ilyés Ferenc has retired from a very successful career; Debreczeni has completed a move back to FTC and Richárd Nemes has left the club.
They have signed two new players for the pivot position, namely the Belarusian Alekszej Ushal and the Croatian Darko Stojnic. Another, rather quick transfer was completed for Viorel Fotache from Bucharest, whose position is defender and right-back. The best goal scorers and last season’s top 3 scorers of Tatabánya in the 2020-21 season, were Mátyás Győri, Ádám Juhász and Gábor Ancsin, who still are integral parts of the team’s core. In our last match against Tatabánya, in the 26th round on May 26, Telekom Veszprém won 34-25 in the Veszprém Arena.
Grundfos Tatabánya has begun their pre-season rather early; on August 6 they played a practice match away, against Ferencváros and it ended 21-21. On August 11, they played at home against Budakalász, where Tatabánya won 26-21. Last but not least, in their latest practice match against Kosice, they easily triumphed 34-19.
After Grundfos Tatabánya, Telekom Veszprém’s pre-season programme continues with two SEHA League quarter-final games (negotiations with Spíler TV regarding the live coverage of these games are still ongoing; we’ll notify our fans as soon as possible). Concluding our pre-season period, is one last practice match against THW Kiel, in front of our Fans in the Veszprém Arena.
Hajrá Veszprém!
