Kiel - Veszprém pregame statements

 

We asked our head coach and some players about the derbi against Kiel.

 

Ljubomir Vranjes: It is going to be nice to start the Champions League once again and we are starting with a boom. In Kiel is one of the most difficult games in handball but it is also fun to go there and play. There is a great atmosphere in that big arena. We are preparing of course, we would like to get some points there but we know it is going to be difficult. If we get 2 points, it is a bonus, if not, we are stepping ahead. It is going to be really nice to see on which level are we now after only one week of practice after the European championship. I hope I found the balance between training and giving my players time to regenerate. We had a game lately but it was not the same quality that we are going to meet on Wednesday evening. I hope my players will have power for that game.

 

 

Roland Mikler: I expect an exciting game. I am sure that the momentum from the European championship still lives vividly in every player. There are many players who played in that tournament and that momentum, that is necessary there, will have its mark on the second half of the Champions League. Everyone will start the matches in high level. This is our plan as well. We have to concentrate on defense the most and have a tough wall for every minute of the game.

 

 

Iman Jamali: I think we will have an important and hard game there but everybody is focused and motivated for this game. We did not train together for a long time, and we only had a game against Gyöngyös. It went well. We have a new player, Nenadic, whom I think is going to fit well in the team. He trains well with us. It is going to be a great game for us but hard at the same time. Everyone knows how important that match is and hard it can be. We are a 100% prepared, and I hope we are going to win at the end.

 

 

Dejan Manaskov: It is our first game in the Champions League this year against Kiel. We did not train together for one and a half month, which makes this game even more difficult. Of course, it is never easy to play in Kiel in that arena. We have to be concentrated for 60 minutes, play good defense. If we do just that, we will have a chance to win that game.
