2015. Dec. 04. Friday, 07:43
On Sunday, at 2:15 PM MVM Veszprém is going to play against THW Kiel in the 10th round of Champions League in Germany. Live broadcast on Sport1. We asked Coach Xavi Sabaté, Chema Rodríguez, Mikler Roland and Christian Zeitz about the upcoming match.
Javier Sabaté: Each game is important so we always have to concentrate. We’re facing a difficult game because Kiel is a great team, especially in their full house arena. I think this will be the hardest game until Christmas. Both teams have injured players just like every other team in this hard season. There are injuries almost in all rounds. All games are equal, all games are like finals. The role of goalkeepers will be very important in the upcoming game – like in the game last weekend – but our defense itself should also work well. To defeat a great opponent like Kiel, we have to perform great in each element of the game: defense, offence, fast breaks, organization, etc.
Chema Rodríguez: This will be the hardest game remained in 2015; and the last CL game in this year. It will be extremely hard to play against Kiel in their strong atmosphere. But we need to win to be group winners. I’m sure that they will fight hard so we have to do our best to defeat them in the away game. Paris Saint-German was also a hard opponent last weekend but we performed great so our aim is to repeat that in Germany this weekend. We have to be careful because Kiel tends to be really fast after a saved shot or a stolen ball. If we can do it, we can win.
Roland Mikler: The glorious victory over one of the greatest teams did increase the team’s self-confidence. But I don’t think that this is the real difference between the two teams so we shouldn’t overreact that. It was definitely an amazing achievement and it would be great to repeat our performance in defense and not to make too many mistakes. It would mean that our offence works well, we don’t lose balls and that we can stop fast breaks so that we can gain those two points.
Christian Zeitz: I think Kiel has improved in the last couple of weeks and they actually play better than in the beginning of the season. But we are also in good form; we proved it last week in the game against PSG. We proved that we can defeat top teams so I believe we can win in Kiel as well. We are facing a hard match; we have to take the lead right from the beginning. We shouldn’t slow down; we have to be really fast and not to let Kiel close up.
