Introducing Plock

On the 25th of August, we are going to introduce all teams at the Square in front of Veszprém Arena that are participating on the first ever Veszprém Handball City Festival. In the next 3 days we are going to give a closer look on each team. The third team is Wisla Plock.

 

Wisla Plock finished at the second place of the Polish PGNiG Super Liga, behind Vive Kielce who are also participating in our tournament. They have won their conference by far, with Azoty Pulawy trailing by 7 points behind them. They played 26 games and won 22 in regulation time, and 1 in overtime. Besides this they lost 3 games. The winners of the two conferences played the final where Kielce beat Plock back-to-back, making them unable to win a championship since 2011.

 

 

The polish runner-up did not have luck in the VELUX EHF Champions League either. They managed to win only 3 games out of 14, although they were able to beat THW Kiel at home which was a great win for them. Besides this they achieved 2 draws and lost 9 times. This performance was not enough for them to go through to the best 16. They finished on 7th place in Group A where Veszprém played also. Their top scorer in the CL was Sime Ivic with 60 goals.

 

This summer PSG signed their goalkeeper Rodrigo Corrales who had a brilliant season. For his place Plock signed Ádám Borbély from Telekom Veszprém in hopes of finding a great talent. They signed Przemyslaw Krajewski to the place of the departing Miljan Pusica. Dmitry Zhitnikov signed with MOL-Pick Szeged this summer, to his place Plock signed Nemanja Obradovic from Metalurg Skopje.

 

Wisla Plock will play against Telekom Veszprém on Saturday at 6 p.m. in Veszprém Aréna on the Veszprém Handball City Festival.
