Introducing Kielce

On the 25th of August, we are going to introduce all teams at the Square in front of Veszprém Arena that are participating on the first ever Veszprém Handball City Festival. In the next 3 days we are going to give a closer look on each team. First up: Vive Kielce.

 

The Polish side won their domestic league last season. They played 26 games in the PGNiG Super Liga from which they won 25 times in the regulation time and won once in overtime hence winning the regular season unbeaten. After this they faced Wisla Plock in the final. They managed to win both legs and became champions. The first leg ended in a one goal 24:25 win for Kielce while at home they won 31:29 and celebrated their 14th Championship title in front of their fans.

 

 

They were in Group B in the VELUX EHF Champions League and finished the group phase on the 2nd spot, right behind Vardar Skopje. They achieved 9 wins and suffered 5 defeats and as the runner up of that Group they had high hopes for the knock out phase. Their hopes were crushed quickly as the French surprise team knocked them out in the best 16.

 

Probably this is why they thought they needed to strengthen their team for the next season. They signed fresh Champions League winner Alex Dujshebaev who can now work alongside his father for the years to come. The other huge transfer for them was the top scorer of the last SEHA League season, Blaz Janc. The young Slovenian scored 110 goals on 16 games which made Europe's top clubs to stand in line for his signature. Besides the two top signing they acquired Marko Mamic from Dunkerque. Tobias Reichmann left to Melsungen, Branko Vujovic left to Celje and Piotr Chrapkovski left to Magdeburg.

 

Kielce will play against RK Celje Pivovarna Lasko in the Veszprém Handball City Festival on Saturday at 3:30 p.m.
