Interview with William Accambray

I am very happy. The summer break was good, but this is the beginning of a new season. I am waiting for the new challenges and to meet my new teammates.

 

My first memory looks back for a long time, when I was a young player, I was only 18 if I remember well. I was playing one of my first Champions League matches, with Montpellier, and we won by one goal here. That was a crazy match and even one of my most beautiful memory of my carrier.

 

 

For me, Veszprém is one of the four best teams in the world, which is always playing in Champions League Final4. I am sure about that this team will be able to win the Champions League. This is why it was an easy decision to come here.

 

I started to play in a little village, outside on the concrete, when I was only six. I didn’t do any sport in the school and I decided to join to one of my friends, who had already been playing handball. After that I fell in love with this sport, and I continued to play it.

 

Every memory is different. I have a lot of beautiful memories from the school, when I played with my friends, and of course there are the moments, when I became French champion for the first time, or world champion and I also had an Olympic gold medal. I do not have a best memory, but a lot of different ones.

 

Yes, this is my first goal. I won every trophy in France, even the championship and the cup, with the national team I reached everything, but this very important victory is still missing. I hope I can reach it with Telekom Veszprém, because we have a great team.

 

I was playing for four-five years with Dragan Gajic in Montpellier, so I know him very well, but the others aren’t stranger for me neither. Sometimes I talk to them, mostly during the international tournaments and before and after Champions League matches.

 

 

It’s an amazing pool of players, which mist win the Hungarian championship. For me, Ljubomir Vranjes is one of the best coaches of the world, with a big experience. His personality is important for me, just like the good feeling in the locker room. I think we will reach a lot of good results together.

  

It was a great summer for me. I decide not to stay in France, so we fly to the USA with my friends. During this two weeks I was in Miami, Los Angeles and in Las Vegas. I met Máté Lékai at the Universal Studio. Someone just screamed that „Hey, William!”, so I turned back, and I saw Máté. It was very funny. After that I was in Croatia, where in a restaurant Jack Richardson was looking the menu. It was also good to meet him. After all I had a great summer break, but now I am waiting for the beginning of the new season.

 

I mostly like to be with my friends, but I like to play card games, and sometimes I play with my PlayStation.

 

I have big shoots in the games, because thanks to my parents I have strong arms and. They were discus and hammer throwers. In my personal life I am kind and funny. If you don’t know me, you wouldn’t think I am funny. But I am.

 

I hope we will have a good season. I am very happy to be able to be at this club. I always liked this club, and the spirit around the handball here. So not only because it is a good team, but because, for me that was one of the best places where I played handball even as an opponent. For me it’s the best to play in front of these fans. And not only here, in the Veszprém Arena, but they made a fantastic atmosphere also in Köln.
