According to Roland Mikler their duel between the goalkeepers could be in the middle of Saturday’s Champions’ League match.
Roland Mikler, Telekom Veszprém’s handball player, expects that a lot will depend on how they are performing as goalkeepers against THW Kiel on Saturday’s CL group match. According to Mikler, who certified from Pick Szeged in 2014 to Telekom Veszprém, Landin and Wolff will be the key players on the CL match.
Rolan Mikler emphasized the followings to Telekom Sporthír Szolgálat: “Niklas Landin, European Champion of 2012, will arrive to Hungary as Olympian Champion of Rio. Sometimes he can decide the result of the match alone. As they say, he can ‘read’ the opponent’s intention. The Danish National Team owes as many thanks to the 27-year old team captain Landin as to Mikkel Hansen, who scored 8 goals against the French team in the Olympic final. I can say only good things about Andreas Wolff, who is only 2-year younger than Landin and the member of the German National Team. He only played in Bundesliga teams so far and came back from Rio with a bronze medal. He makes the goal almost full with his height of 198 cm and he is very quick and lithesome. Moreover, I can say that he is a clever player because of his quick reactions. It will be hard to be better than them in the goal.”
The more than 150-times National Team did not have to search a lot in their memories if they get the question how the latest matches against Kiel went.
“Last time in Cologne, Kiel had the advantage with 3 goals at the end of the first half in the semi-finals of Final Four but then we got better and before the end of the real playtime we managed to make a draw. During the overtime we fought hard and we could celebrate the 3-goal success at the end. We fought in the same group back then, too. We could have won in Kiel but we made mistakes at the end and we lost with 1 goal. It was a hard game in the Veszprém Arena too but we could win for 29:27.”- said Roland Mikler.
Telekom Veszprém’s job is to fulfill that again and win the game; however the preparation was not free from obstacles.
Roland Mikler also claimed that: “Our job is to win on every CL match on home court, but we also want to leave the court with no defeat on away matches. I cannot decide whether out of the two German rivals of ours, Flensburg-Handewitt or THW Kiel is the more powerful opponent. They are both on the first two places of the Bundesliga. Kiel’s players can throw the ball strongly and they are also quick but we prepared for that according to our best knowledge.”
