Interview with Rogerio Moraes Ferreira

 

Rogerio Moraes Ferreira has officially been the player of Telekom Veszprém since 1 July, however, before he could join the team and the preparations, he had to participate in the Pan-American Games in Peru. The Brazilian national team finished the tournament with a bronze medal, after which Rogerio made his way over to Hungary, where he will join preparations soon. The Champions League winner line player happily answered a few questions for our web page.

 

 

I am so happy and proud to be here in Veszprém. Everybody knows how professional it is here. Coach Davis was asking me about if I am tired or need some days to rest, but I said no, because I would like to start as early as possible. Which is funny, because the team has already started in July. I will start working on Monday, then we will see what we can do together in this next season.

 

It was really good. We were in the final and did a great job in the semifinal, almost unbelievable. We won, against Veszprém, which was a bit complicated for me during the game, but still a great experience. Last season was great for Vardar despite all the problems we had. I would like to keep in this way and win with Veszprém, all the titles.

 

The fans made a huge party in Skopje once we arrived home from Cologne. It was almost 200,000 people in the square to celebrate the trophy. Unfortunately, I had some family problem, so I had to go to Brazil right after the Final4 but they remembered me, by putting a picture on the screen. I received a lot of messages from Vardar fans and from the club as well. Huge thanks to them for these two years.

 

 

We were the favorites of this competition, at least to the final, and there to fight against Argentina. Everybody was thinking about that. At the end, we lost against Chile in the semifinal, which nobody believed in. I do not know what happened. I cannot think of words of how I feel right now, because the opportunity to play in the Olympics would have come easier by winning the Pan-American Games. Now we only have a chance to go to the qualification tournament but a lot of results have to come in our favor from different games and championships. I do not know what happened. We have to work more to be better for the next championship.

 

I will start working on Monday and we will see how Coach Davis will think about my form. I want to play, but I do not know if I can on Wednesday. First, I have to get together with the team, and be in touch with everyone starting Monday.

 

I want to win, like every player. I have been playing in Europe for four years, and I have qualified for the Final4 every year. That is my first goal, I would like to go to Cologne again and to win it again. I am the first Brazilian to win the Champions League, and now I have two victories. I would like to keep this streak going. I want to make history with Veszprém by taking the first trophy for the Club, it is very important; everyone will be working for this. I will work for this all season. In these two years, or more, in Veszprém I will work towards that goal.
