It became official today that Petar Nenadic will continue his career in Telekom Veszprém from 1 January 2018. Our chat with the Serbian playmaker can be found below.
You will play in Veszprém from January of 2018. What does it mean to you to sign for the Hungarian record champions?
It is a pleasure for me first of all because I am coming to one of the best clubs in Europe for about 20 years. It is a big responsibility of course.
What was the main reason that you chose to switch teams and to continue in Veszprém?
The main reason was the Champions League because I have a great ambition to win the CL. In addition, Veszprém is one of the biggest clubs and every player’s dream is playing in a club like this. It is a great team with a great coach. There was not so much to think about when I signed.
What are your goals in Veszprém? What are the characteristics of your game that can help your new team?
I do not like to speak about myself. Everybody likes different things. I know that I can fight for 60 minutes of the game to get a good result. I think that is my most important characteristic. I want the fans to see, that I can fight for this club.
Your main position is a playmaker but you are used to the left back position as well. Which one do you like more and why?
I play as a center back here in Berlin more than as a left back. I do not have a favorite position. Today’s handball is a very fast and dynamic game so you can change your position often. I do not have a favorite place to play. The most important is to play where the coach says to play, and from that, you will change your position many times during the game anyway.
You played against Veszprém many times during your years in Szeged, as well as in the final of the 2015 Super Globe. How do you remember to those games?
Szeged was almost 10 years ago so a lot of things have changed. In Qatar in the final of the Super Globe, we won a fantastic game. Of course, it was the final so there were no real favorites, you never know who can win. Everybody knows what Veszprém is and how many quality players play in the team. They are one of the best teams in handball, there is no doubt about it.
What is your proudest moment in your career?
I have a lot of things to be proud of here in Berlin. I won a lot of things like EHF Cup, we won the Super Globe in Qatar twice. I was also the top scorer and best playmaker in the Bundesliga. I have many nice things here and also in Poland and everywhere I played. I wanted to improve everywhere I was and to be in good shape. It is also a proud moment for me to come to Veszprém. To win the Champions League is a huge challenge but I am ready for that.
Are there any teammates who you already knew from your new team? For example there is you fellow countryman Momir Ilic…
I knew László Nagy, from my years in Barcelona. He was the one who helped me a lot, especially because I played there when I was very young. He was my big brother there. I played with Kent Robin Tonnesen for 2 years in Füchse Berlin. We were roommates. He is a good friend of mine. Momir Ilic and I played together in the Serbian national team. I know a lot of guys too, from the games I played against them. I know Ljubomir Vranjes from the Budesliga as well. I can say I know many players from my new team.
Tell us more about yourself. How is your personality off the court? What do you like to do in your free time? Maybe a few words about your family?
Just like everybody, I like spending my free time with my family. Now I am looking for new things to do in Veszprém, in a new city. I am trying to find a nice place to live. I know that the Balaton and Budapest is near. The capital is a beautiful city, not as big as Berlin. If you have free time, it is not so hard to organize activities with the family there.
Last question. What is your message to Veszprém fans?
I know that they are one of the bests in the world. There is no doubt about that. I will fight for this club and I will try to make history with this team by winning the Champions League. That is my goal.
